Liberia |
Monrovia, Liberia, was torn apart by civil war. Armed soldiers terrorized the streets, looting or torching anything in their path. Stripped of equipment, medicine, and supplies, Cooper Memorial Hospital was left virtually empty.

Panama |
Somehow a miracle happened. The kids who seemed unable to do anything right saved the pediatric unit at Jose Domingo Hospital in David, Panama.
They did not plan it this way. They were just a group of teenagers from a group home in Maine who were required to complete a summer of community service.

Tlapa, Mexico |
Tlapa has a 30-bed hospital, a clinic supported by doctors from Mexico City, and a school for children of migrant workers. Many people walk for two or three days to get to the hospital, and if it is full they walk home. A town the size of Tlapa in the United States would boast 12 fully equipped hospitals, and each hospital would have 200 beds.
