IMEC's mission in education is to provide teachers, schools and vocational training centers with the equipment, tools and supplies needed to appropriately educate their students for success in their communities. Once they have the appropriate materials and equipment, instructors can teach effectively, and these students can gain the skills they need to elevate themselves and their community to self-sustainability.
IMEC Education Suites equip a variety of classroom settings, from Classroom Suites for primary through secondary education, to TVET Vocational Training Suites that allow instructors to provide training and education in over 20 skill sets to physicians, nurses, technicians, mechanics and farmers.
Our Vocational Suites are complete educational units providing all the tools and supplies necessary to train workers in numerous vocational paths, including: Carpentry, Home Building, Masonry, Tailoring, Plumbing, Welding, Automotive, Electrical, Small Engine Repair, Well Water, Water Transport, Food Service, Fishing, Radiology Technician, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Tech, Medical Tech, Lab tech, Physical Therapy/Rehab Assistant, and Emergency Room Assistant.
IMEC offers Knowledge Centers designed specifically for international development projects. These centers are housed in 40 foot shipping containers, which serve as their final facility once delivered to the recipient community. Placed alongside an existing hospital, this center will allow training in medical procedures for physicians and nurses, provide vocational training for allied health professionals, radiology technicians and pharmacy technicians, and allow for ongoing, sustainable educational support for health care workers.
The integrated Suite is equipped with a large monitor, a user-friendly software interface, and a webcam that can be controlled remotely by health care or training professionals from anywhere in the world - all mounted on a wheeled cart. With the press of a button, the Suite can be restored, undoing viruses and system problems without IT staff's intervention. The IMEC Suite enables the hospital to connect directly with leading universities in the United States at an appropriate maintenance cost. In addition to online capabilities, the Suite is also pre-loaded with valuable training material that can be used offline.
When used as a TVET center, a variety of vocational training Suites can be incorporated into the center, from automotive repair to plumbing, masonry, home building, and many others. When used as an Educational Center, traditional educational equipment and supplies can be augmented and kept current via E-learning technology, from primary through secondary education.
